ABOUT ME

I'm an equine enthusiast and have been since I was 8 years old. I spent my varsity years soaking up knowledge as a working student. I've explored both  English and Western disciplines which have given me a deeper appreciation for all disciplines.

I graduated from UNISA with my BSc Physiology, Psychology and Genetics degree Cum laude in 2020.

During 2021 I became the only board certified equine assisted learning therapist in South-Africa and registered with the CBEIP- ED.

I know that in order to keep horses at their best you have to know them at their worst. This belief helped me to make a career oriented decision to work at an equine veterinary practice for an Equine Specialist surgeon Dr Hildegard Setzkorn, where I realised that all the different parts of the equines life be it farriery , dentistry , nutrition or soft tissue needs to work together to give the horse the best benefit from treatment.

This also established relationships with some of the top equine vets in South Africa which I am forever grateful.

Whilst working at the veterinary practice I completed my Equine Myo-Manipulative Therapy bodywork certification and registered with the IAAMB.

And as life flows this lead to the creation of MIR Equine Therapies.

I am a life long learner and I continue to advance my knowledge in the field by participating in continuing education courses. These courses include equine nutrition, equine anatomy & biomechanics, equine pathology, hoof balance & lameness prevention, bit & saddle fit assessment, trigger point therapy, kinesiology taping, and myofascial release.

I am first and foremost an advocate for the horse and I strive every day to provide quality therapies and education to help improve movement, performance, and overall wellbeing.

I find working with horses to be tremendously fulfilling & I'm fortunate to have found something that continues to deepen my bond with these animals every day.
